Dezember 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Corona figures in Panama had improved significantly from August to November, so that all economic sectors and tourism in Panama are open again. I have summarized my impressions during my November trip in this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WGywrtQFhSc&amp;feature=emb_logo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>VIDEO<\/strong><\/a> (link to click). At the beginning of November, the national holidays led to an increase in private parties, which has resulted in higher case numbers since the end of November. However, Panama currently performs more tests per capita per day than e.g. Germany, which explains part of the increased case numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Health (figures as of 07 Dec 2020)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There are currently 179,230 cases and 3,212 deaths.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>R-value<\/strong> is 1.18<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>mortality rate<\/strong> is 1.79% (global average 2.29%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the USA (world leader), Panama carries out the most <strong>tests per capita<\/strong> on the American continent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>percentage of positive tests <\/strong>was around 10% at the beginning of November and currently fluctuates daily between 14 &#8211; 19%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The<strong> intensive care beds<\/strong> have never been fully utilized.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Panama, Pfizer \/ Biontech <strong>vaccines<\/strong> are expected to be available in Q1 2021. In addition, vaccine doses have also been ordered from AstraZeneca. Basically, the population of Panama is vaccine tolerant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>graph<\/strong> shows the weekly development (March &#8211; December) of new infections (bars) and the test positive rate (curve). The strong increase in June began with the opening of the first economic sectors. The increase at the end of November is due to the public holidays at the beginning of November and the immense increase in the number of tests performed daily (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prensa.com\/sociedad\/data-studio-casos-de-coronavirus-covid-19-en-panama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">data link<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"752\" height=\"324\" src=\"https:\/\/www.frapan-invest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Corona-Zahlen-Dez-2020.png\" alt=\"Corona graph Panama 07 Dec 2020\" class=\"wp-image-5271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.frapan-invest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Corona-Zahlen-Dez-2020.png 752w, https:\/\/www.frapan-invest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Corona-Zahlen-Dez-2020-300x129.png 300w, https:\/\/www.frapan-invest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Corona-Zahlen-Dez-2020-600x259.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 752px) 100vw, 752px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Economy<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>All economic sectors are reopened<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the <strong>Panama Canal<\/strong> ended its fiscal year (30\/09) with a turnover increase of 1.2%, the last turnover reports of the Canal Authority are also positive. In particular, business with Asian trading partners has picked up strongly again.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Many <strong>restaurants, hotels and stores<\/strong> have not yet reopened.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current estimates assume <strong>economic growth<\/strong> of -9.3% in 2021 (2021: +6.4% \/ 2022: +5.1%) and an <strong>unemployment rate<\/strong> of 13.9% (2021: 9.8% \/ 2022: 8%) (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.frapan-invest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/FocusEconomics-Consensus-Forecast-Panama-November-2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Info-Link<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Life in Panama<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The government in Panama has introduced a &#8220;<strong>traffic light system<\/strong>&#8221; for the different districts of Panama, which shows the current level of risk. Different restrictive measures are then associated with the respective color. The risk is measured by the R-value, the mortality rate and the utilization of intensive care and hospital beds (<a href=\"https:\/\/panatimes.com\/minsa-details-contingency-plan-due-to-raise-in-covid-19-cases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">info link<\/a>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Since December 03, <strong>violations of the corona regulations<\/strong> have been punished by cancellation of the corona aids for the persons involved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the greater Panama City area, for example, there is currently an <strong>curfew<\/strong> from 09.00pm &#8211; 05.00am and a prohibition of alcohol during this time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Travel to Panama<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Panama has received the &#8220;<strong>Safe Travel Country<\/strong>&#8221; certificate from the &#8220;<strong>World Travel &amp; Tourism Council<\/strong>&#8221; due to the corona measures introduced (<a href=\"https:\/\/panatimes.com\/panama-receives-the-safe-travels-stamp-for-complying-with-the-biosecurity-protocols-against-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">info link<\/a>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Since 12.10. the <strong>international airport <\/strong>of Panama City is open again.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travellers (no matter from where in the world) have to present a <strong>Corona negative test<\/strong> (max. 48 hours old) or alternatively make a quick test (results after 20 min) at the airport in Panama for 50 USD.
