All sectors of the economy are open<\/strong>.<strong> Below you will also find more information on Corona vaccination in Panama.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Health (figures as of 25 March 2021)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There are currently <strong>5.030 active cases<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>R-value<\/strong> is 0,91<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>mortality rate<\/strong> is 1.7% (global average 2.2%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Panama performs the same <strong>number of tests <\/strong>per capita as Germany.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The percentage of <strong>positive tests<\/strong> is currently below 5% daily.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The<strong> intensive care beds<\/strong> have never been fully utilized.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Corona vaccination<\/strong> started in Panama in January.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The goal is to have <strong>84% of the population vaccinated<\/strong> by the end of the year. The current figure is 8%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>5.2 million doses<\/strong> have been ordered (Biontech\/Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Jonson &amp; Johnson) and negotiations are underway for an additional <strong>3 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Since Panama has a <strong>very young population<\/strong> (\u00d8 26 years), people aged 60 and over were already vaccinated in phase 1.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>So far, 8,5% of the Panamanian population has been infected with Corona. Taking into account the estimated number of unreported cases, this figure should be about <strong>20%<\/strong>, which is much closer to <strong>herd immunity<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>graph<\/strong> shows the weekly trend (March 20 &#8211; March 21) of new infections (bars) and the test positive rate (curve). The sharp increase in June began with the economic opening. As unemployment has skyrocketed, this amount is barely enough for many poorer families.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current estimates predict <strong>economic growth<\/strong> <strong>of +9,9% in 2021<\/strong> (2020: -17%).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Life in Panama<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The government measures the corona risk of the individual regions on the basis of certain indicators (R-value, hospital occupancy rate, etc.) and adopts <strong>region-specific measures<\/strong> on the basis of this.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Throughout Panama there is currently a <strong>curfew<\/strong> from 11.00pm &#8211; 04.00am daily and in the greater Panama City area additionally on weekends.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Beaches<\/strong> are open from 06.00am &#8211; 06.00pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Travel to Panama<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Since 12 October 2020 Panama Citys<strong> International Airport is open<\/strong> again.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Visitors<\/strong> (regardless of where they come from in the world) must present a <strong>Corona negative test<\/strong> (max. 48 hours old) or alternatively take a rapid test at the airport in Panama.
